How To Do Keyword Research For Social Media

Whitney Stewart

Keyword research is an essential part of any content marketing strategy, as it helps to identify the terms and phrases that your target audience is searching for. By using relevant keywords in your content, you can increase the chances of your content being found by potential customers and increase traffic to your website or social media accounts.

To get started with keyword research, you can use platforms such as TikTok, Pinterest, and YouTube, which have search algorithms that are based on SEO (search engine optimization). To find popular keywords in your niche, you can use the search bar and type in an industry-specific keyword. The platform will then try to guess what you are searching for by filling in the blanks, based on what other people are searching for on the same subject. These suggestions can be some of your keywords.

Another way to find keywords, on TikTok specifically,  is to search for a term and scroll down past the first few videos. Look for the "others searched for" box, which will contain other searches similar to yours that people have recently used.

You can also use the ABC method on any platform by typing in "marketing a" into the search bar and writing down the relevant keywords, then repeating this process with "marketing b," "marketing c," and so on.

As you complete your keyword research, be sure to write them down. When creating content, make sure to address topics that people are searching for in your niche and include these keywords in your content, captions, and title! This will help the algorithm show your content to your target audience, increase your engagement and ultimately, sales!
